Immigration Attorney
Mildred Alvarez is an immigration attorney at Murad Immigration Law, serving clients from Longmont, Colorado. Her practice focuses on removal defense, and she represents clients facing deportation proceedings in immigration court.
Before joining Murad Immigration Law, Mildred spent two years as an Immigration Removal Attorney with McKinley Law Group in Longmont. There she handled immigration court appearances and represented clients in removal proceedings from start to finish.
Background in Immigration Advocacy
Mildred’s commitment to immigrant rights began long before she was licensed. As a legal intern and then legal extern with Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center in El Paso, Texas, she worked directly with immigrants navigating the U.S. immigration system and conducted legal research supporting their cases.
She later clerked at Novo Legal Group in Denver, a firm dedicated to immigration law. That work gave her hands-on experience preparing immigration matters under the supervision of experienced practitioners.
Broad Legal Experience
Mildred’s training extends beyond immigration law. While at the University of Colorado Law School, she served as a research assistant to Professor Norton and clerked for Polansky Law Firm in Boulder, where she worked on criminal defense matters. That criminal law experience is valuable in immigration cases, where criminal history can affect a client’s options.
Earlier in her career, she interned at Texas’s 8th Court of Appeals in El Paso. There she researched legal issues in pending cases and prepared briefs and draft opinions for the Chief Justice.
Advocate for Children and Families
For nearly two years, Mildred volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). She advocated in court for the best interests of at-risk children, preparing court reports, visiting the children monthly, and taking part in meetings about their well-being.
